Wow, it's been a wild couple of weeks, I don't know that we're the best parents in the world, but if our parenthood is judged by how tired we are, we're definitely making the cut. All the Grandparents are back home now, and we've been experimenting with feeding schedules, sleeping schedules... I think we're slowly figuring it out, though Tristan mostly thinks it's up to him to decide when mommy and daddy are allowed to sleep :) He's a little bundle of joy, he started smiling more and more, I'm not sure whether it's conscious, but I think he has the most beautiful smile in the world. He opens his eyes a lot more which makes for pretty good photo ops.
On the last day with Mammy and Grandpa Schuerch, we went to the Potato Museum where we found out that it's 3 dollars per person to get in the lamest museum ever built, but hey, at least you get your free box of microwavable hash-brown right? After that we drove them to Salt-Lake so that they would be able to catch their plane in the morning, turns out Tristan does great on road trips, he only messed his pants twice.
That night we all went to an Italian Restaurant called, Buco di Bepo, the food was great, so was service, but the bill was a little bit of a bitter after taste.
The next day, Mammy and Grandpa went home and Kari, Tristan, and I went to a Belgian Friterie where they make pretty good Belgian Waffles, and no you don't know what real Belgian Waffles are unless you've been to that place in which case you "kinda" know what they taste like, or you've actually had one in Belgium, in which case you know that those pancake-esque wafers couldn't be further away from the real thing. Well, to be fair, Kari did make some pretty good waffles for her coworkers a little while ago, so I guess they kind of know what a Belgian Waffle is. Anyways, I'm waffling on about nothing (sorry I realized how lame that was as I was typing it).
Well enjoy the pics and be assured that Kari will be back blogging fairly soon so you only have to endure my bad literary style and pale jokes for but a while longer.
I just found this picture and thought it was a pretty cute picture of grumpy Tristan

The Potato Museum had a collection of stamps about potatoes, we were pleased to see that Tristan had his very own one

This is apparently the Guinness Record holder for the Biggest Potato Chip in the World

This is an eagle scout project: collecting as many potato mashers as possible. What a help to his community this kid was, I'll bet you he'll be the next President

Giant Potato Picture

This is the Italian Restaurant, Kari and my dad got cut out because of the polaroid application, it crops the picture a little

This is Kari and I trying to take a picture of ourselves at the Belgian Friterie in Salt Lake City, behind us is a picture of the King and Queen of Belgium

We love all the pictures! What a handsome little boy we have for a nephew!!! We are sad you didn't come down (only 45 minutes away!!!) and hook these cousins up for a photo op. Maybe next time...? Keep the pictures coming!
So, Lorenz, I think you should post a recipe for real Belgian waffles... I'd love to try a real one! (or at least my best attempt with your direction!)
