We went to a seminar on Book of Mormon geography a few months ago. The main attraction was a video that was published about the ancient civilizations of North America. It talks about huge civilizations that inhabited the Kirkland, Nauvoo, Independence areas. There are pyramids footprints larger than those at Giza mathematically aligned with true north and the stars. Iron smelters were found in some areas. One city was shaped in the birds-eye view of a menorah. There were also stones found in burial mounds with hebrew engravings: 'Holiness to the Lord. The House of the Lord'.
It made me really excited to read the book again. In the testimony of Joseph Smith, Moroni explicitly states that the events of the Book of Mormon took place 'on this continent' not South America.
This was a wonderful discovery and the whole book is more alive to me.
Maybe it doesn't really matter that much—where all of it took place. It definitely doesn't change my belief . I know it is true. However, it is fascinating to think of the Church being restored on the land of the Book of Mormon.

Do you know what the name of the video was, or if it is available in places other than the seminar you went to? I would love to see that. That kind of stuff is so fascinating to me.
By the way, that top picture is adorable. When did he get so grown up? I thought he was a lot younger than that for some reason.
My mom was telling me about this information. I think she went to a fireside or something in St. George, Utah, where she lives. It was definitely interesting. We've been told that Moroni personally dedicated some of the modern day temple sites in Utah and the west...it would be a really long journey if he walked up Guatemala all by himself. :)
Also, another fun website that I love to spend time on is http://www.jefflindsay.com/LDS_Intro.shtml, especially the BOM Evidences. This guy is a bishop and a scholar. Not an official spokesman for the church or anything, but he does some really awesome research. It is just fun.
Great thoughts and good job reading
Here's the link Jamie. Sorry it took so long. A while ago I tried to see if there were any more of the Video I have: Lost Civilizations of North America. It might be on there now. The DNA evidence video is really interesting too.

Jeff Lindsay does a great job at providing evidences for The Book of Mormon, and would recommend his site. But, the video which you are talking about, not so much. The artifacts he uses were found to be forgeries originally by Apostle James E. Talmage (author of Jesus the Christ, Great Apostasy). They were recently re-examined and again shown to be forgeries. Unfortunately, most of what is used in that video is not accurate information, so much so that the Church run organization Neal A. Maxwell Institute at BYU has cautioned people against it, and has written and are writing several reviews of his work. Here is one of them: http://maxwellinstitute.byu.edu/publications/review/?vol=22&num=1&id=793
Personally, I think I'd rather be accurate in my studies than believe in half-truths that sound good. There is much better information out there.
